We invite you to join the Western Social Science Association and to review the merits of membership in a professional organization committed to interdisciplinary scholarship, service, and collegiality since its inception in 1958. As a member, you will participate in the annual professional conference WSSA sponsors each spring, a conference which grows yearly in quality and diversity. You will be sent quarterly, The Social Science Journal, a journal that continues to receive outstanding reviews under the guidance of its editor, N. Prabha Unnithan. Three times a year you also will receive the WSSA Newsletter containing timely information and items of professional interest. In addition, the Association recognizes three outstanding student papers, and awards cash prizes to the student authors at its annual conference. We believe WSSA is an outstanding professional association that offers many opportunities to its members.

Answers can be expected within five working days; if the answer is needed sooner, please preface your subject line with "Urgent", and give the time frame in the body of the message -- it may be possible to reply more quickly.
NEW- Please Note :membership period
Starting in 2010, the WSSA is changing its membership period from the current calendar year (January 1 through December 31) to the “Conference Year”, which will be April 1 through March 31 of each year.
The purpose of this change is to make it easier for members to pay the conference fees at the same time that other WSSA payments are due. We will also be changing the fee structure so that anyone paying for the conference will automatically become a member of the association.
To avoid confusion and double payments, the expiration date for all 2009 memberships will be extended to midnight (EST) of March 31, 2010.
Therefore, anyone who purchased a membership for the 2009 calendar year will not need to renew membership until March 31, 2010.
Memberships purchased for 2010 will start on April 1, 2010, and end on March 31, 2011.
The links for both the 2009 and 2010 on-line membership forms are shown below. The 2009 on-line form will be available until the end of November. It will then be removed, and only the 2010 on-line form will appear.
